Coal Basin Mine Reclamation

Redstone, Colorado

“We have had the pleasure to work with Environmental Excavation for several consecutive years on our private property Coal Basin Ranch near Redstone, Colorado. The site is the former base operations for an industrial coal mine, and our aim is to rehabilitate the landscape and construct recreational trails for the public to enjoy. Environmental Excavation has been critical in our land restoration efforts. They are a full-service shop, offering expertise in all tasks that range from earthmoving and excavation to erosion control and irrigation design/install, to soil amendments and planting. Peter Blake has a deep passion for restoration work and has an artist’s eye when it comes to large-scale landscape design. Among the projects on our property, he has created a beautiful wetland with native rushes and sedges, fun public-use beaches with boulders, and a cascading stream bed at the site of a large culvert failure. His team also safely removed the large culvert and completed the associated grading at this project site to prevent a flood disaster, saving us untold dollar amounts. Peter is reliable and goes the extra mile to complete projects, including putting in weekend hours. “
